Penny Elimination and What It Means for You

October 30, 2025

The U.S. Mint has announced the decision to phase out the penny on November 12, 2025. While this change may take some time to fully implement, Kish Bank wants you to know what to expect and how we’re here to help.

Q. Can I still use my pennies?
A. Yes! Pennies remain legal tender. Kish Bank will continue to accept pennies for deposits and transactions as long as they are in circulation.

Q. Is there a penny shortage?
A. Pennies are still in circulation—however, shortages can be expected as they are phased out. As production stops, you may notice fewer pennies available in everyday transactions.

Q. How will this affect my banking experience?
A. We’re here to support you. Kish Bank is committed to helping our community navigate this transition smoothly. If you have questions or need guidance, our team is ready to assist. While the federal government has not provided clear guidance around this yet, we can share best practices to assist with the change.
