Fraudulent Kish “Spoofing” Calls

February 24, 2026

We have seen an increase in fraudulent “spoofing” phone calls where scammers impersonate Kish Bank employees calling from known Kish numbers, attempting to gain sensitive information.

  • Smishing is a malicious attempt to acquire sensitive information using a link to a fake website embedded in a text message.
  • Spoofing involves fraudsters calling under cover of a published number associated with a business to get their target to divulge information.

Please remain vigilant when receiving calls and text messages that appear to be from Kish Bank. Below is important information that can help you identify if it is a legitimate text or call.

Text Messages

Kish does send legitimate texts to customers that have set up alerts in Digital Banking. This text will contain information only and does not ask you to respond or click a link.

Never click on a link within a text message or reply if you have not verified the sender is who they claim to be and know that Kish will never ask for sensitive information via text. If Kish detects a suspicious transaction that we want to verify, you will always receive a phone call or email—never a text.

Phone Calls

If Kish calls you, we may ask authentication questions, usually consisting of your Date of Birth and last four digits of your Social Security Number (SSN). We will never ask for your full SSN, login credentials, or other sensitive information.

How to Protect Yourself

You can significantly reduce your risk by following a few simple guidelines:

Kish will NEVER ask you for your full card number, PIN, Digital Banking password, or security questions. We will also never request your Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA) codes, since these one‑time codes provide an extra layer of protection and should not be shared with anyone. These are the keys to accessing your money and should remain protected!

If a call feels suspicious:

  • Hang up immediately.
  • Call us directly at our published number, 1-800-981-5474, or another known Kish Bank phone number.

Be cautious of:

  • Calls that feel rushed or pressured
  • Audio that sounds unnatural, robotic, or “stitched together”
  • Requests that are unusual for your normal banking activity

If something feels “off,” Stop and Think, trust your instincts and take action.
